Jan Alam acts in public inquiries and regulatory law fitness to practise cases, including cases before the GMC, NMC, GSCC, GDC, GTC, and HPC. She defends professionals in all disciplines facing professional misconduct and impairment allegations (fitness to practise hearings (FTP) and interim orders panels (IOP)) and represents potential registrants in relation to registration matters. Jan Alam also provides legal advice and representation to all clinical professionals and in OISC prosecution cases.

Jan Alam also defends and advises in cases of alleged professional incompetence, where professionals are being sued in negligence or for breach of contract.

Jan Alam also practises in general and medically related criminal law, criminal injuries compensation awards (CICA) law, court of protection law, NHS continuing care law, personal injury law, coroners' inquest law, licensing law, and general professional regulation.

Jan Alam advises on aspects of licensing law and attends licensing committee hearings and appeals across England and Wales.
